Maybe a GPRS module?
I have no idea mate. But locations don't generally appear by magic, you normally need GPRS for a good location or RF triangulation for a 'near enough' location.

Re: DSD + DECODING MAP
DSD+ can decode "standardised" LRRP messages and display them on a map using LRRP.exe
Unfortunately, the most prevalent locator system in UK DMR networks uses a proprietary
message format that DSD+ cannot interpret.
its easy to spot as its terminal ID is up in the 16xxxxxx range.
this is the one used by most council traffic wardens and major shopping malls.
Ive sent some raw audio sample data to DSDAuthor on the radio reference forums so that
support can be included in a future release , but have yet to get any response.

Re: DSD + DECODING MAP
I have a similar issue, got a user on mototrbo and getting lrrp messages on dsd+ screen, photo attached.
got myself a gps dongle but not able to get anything on the lrrp.exe map.
was hoping there may be a way but reading above it may just be a case of wait and see for any future versions of dsd+

Re: DSD + DECODING MAP
Different pc from the one I'm using now, I use an xp machine not on the net for my radio stuff. so easier just to snap the screen with phone.
but will keep it in mind for future.

Re: DSD + DECODING MAP
having a GPS wont help you decode LRRP, because the GPS tells you, or a third party, where you
are located, not the other guys.
Their radios are transmitting LRRP because they have GPS enabled.
Heres an analogy of how LRRP works:
format: <analogy> <(DMR equivalent)>
you write down on a piece of paper "I am here" (the location message string)
you put the piece of paper in a jiffy bag (a DMR data packet)
you write on the outside of the jiffy bag an address: LRRP message for 16012345 , or LRRP message for 1234 (the data packet header)
You give it to the postman who takes it to the sorting office (your radio transmits the message over the air to the LRRP gateway)
en route to the sorting office the package is x-rayed (this is what DSD plus is doing)
The postman delivers the message to the sorting office (the LRRP gateway receives the location data)
So what you guys are seeing is that metaphoric "jiffy bag" mid flight
DSD plus read the label and says "here is a location message to gateway xxxxxxxxx"
DSD plus metaphorically opens the jiffy bag, pulls out the paper and attempts to interpret the message string
But the message string is not written in a language that DSD can interpret ( its like the message saying "je suis ici" or "Soy Aqui" not "i am here"
Because DSD doesnt understand it , it simply ignores the payload and proceeds to the next message.
because the LRRP gateway CAN translate the message it passes the radio ID and location up to the control room
Future releases of DMR will incorporate a data interface derived from TETRA called ETSI LIP (location information protocol) which is even MORE convolted than LRRP :-/

Re: DSD + DECODING MAP
for the record, when you get a DSD+ event window that looks like this
{source: radio reference forums}
then you will see location data in LRRP.exe's maps

Re: DSD + DECODING MAP
Interesting info bigbloke. Do you know what the location protocol in the current version of DSD+ is? I remember reading somewhere that Motorola uses their own proprietary version and then there is the ETSI standard (I assume that is the ETSI LIP you mentioned). Does DSD+ work on the Motorola protocol now or is it some other protocol?

Re: DSD + DECODING MAP
Hi all!
I'm looking for a sample DSDPLUS.LRRP file.
What I really need is the record format to feed LRRP.EXE
Thanks in advance
Gio
