Not really used for commercial shipping in Europe now, having been overtaken by satellite comms which are now as cheap as chips. Still used a bit by yachties, but otherwise a very quiet backwater

Yes I can on both VHF and HF, the HF side better from around 6pm local and VHF channel 74 for the inland waterway,

I get channels 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 69, 84, 86, 0 and sometime I pick up France on the VHF in the summer, it possible to get stuff up but your a little lower down from me,

do not forget marine going digital to,

Yes I get much less now and I did say 3 years but the traffic there but seem to be less since they did away with some coast guards

I assumed it meant digital data though, not digital voice. They already use digital for some stuff, like DSC.

Sorry for the big delay we had load of probleams this side the boiler went BANG..!

2.182 safety and calling (Good at night from 18:00 local
2.761 Belgam radio also good at night
1.743 stoneaway
2.72 = Finland

Mode USB

got other in the log to.

for VHF summer seems to be the best for VHF. I think I am lucky to be in sign of line of Humber C/G VTS Humber and Yarmouth C-G that was seemed to be a better one for me. I am also near a big water way and the big locks so get VHF 74 to.

I listed to the VHF band in clumber park before now channel 0, 16. it is also possiable to hear the C/G in West Yorkshire on VHF.

but please note I do have a fixed VHF Marine radio has well, again PLEASE NOTE this worked butter in the morning and evening, and when there was a lift I could hear France VHF talking on Channle 16

Yes VHF Marine. but over the past few years it has dropped off 5 years ago it was more traffic these days not much at all, there more traffic on inland water ways ch 74.

but I could get Humber C/G well and Huber rescue little under the Humber briage well to and the C/G mobiles, on 0 and 16 think I go a good sight of line to there or there a repeater near the briage,

So not so much everything going digital, but allowing digital use on the band. Obviously the main Ship to Shore stuff will remain Analogue, for the same reasons we still have AM for aviation.....

when I did my Marine VHF training I was told they do not like you using voice on the band these days when you have other ways of doing it now.
