Hey Chris please post a review of the radio when it arrives...You could be the first not sure if you have a YouTube channel but theres nothing on there to show the radio on air...cheers
Yeah, will do when i've got used to it..
i'm going to set up a youtube thingy for just my radio related stuff, hoping to make a few antennas and things and try them out with vids over the summer.

i'll only use it portable and it will live on the wheelchair mostly and some camping use, suppose i mean mobile too then :D
i have better radios for at home.
The lighter plug on the power lead is ideal for the camping battery as i've fitted a socket to charge the phone and use a plug on the tent light.

We'll see if you can alter the power through the software, read the pot turning for power adjustment somewhere online.

Of course, if you're going to review it and moan about the software and programming, the least you could do, is it a little bit of research first.

its yet more churned out general "average or less" PMR rubbish, cleverly marketed at the "tight wad" amateurs amongst us, that will accept less than perfect, cheap and cheerfull, "FM" on a budget! ;)
Still if it covers 446 with the right channel spacing, I am sure it will find its UK market! ;)

This thread has been pruned. I am back on the boards more often now, whilst I'd rather be reading posts and sharing with the members, I will wade-in and clean up threads which have been de-railed if needed.

Please respect other members and try not to be drawn too far off-topic. Thanks

My review after using mine..

Nice size

The speaker is loud, make sure it's on low when pressing buttons or powering up or turn the bleep off in the menu.

Menu like a Baofeng UV-5R

Pretty good audio on transmit (better than i expected, not much difference between the KT8900 and my Alinco DJ-G5 2/70 handheld)

I couldn't get programming software to work on Windows7 but worked ok on XP.

When using the VFO to change frequency , it mutes the receive until a quick key of the Mic or push on the MOM button (which should be labelled MON), bit of a pain when changing frequency/ searching for stations.
However, this doesn't happen if you use the up/down buttons on the Mic.

Good Mic with radio controls on (frequency input , access the radio menu, scan and change between A and B).
The PTT is a bit clicky.

I was expecting a lot lot worse but was quite suprised on its performance.
Try for a while and sell on i thought but it's a keeper and will be used as the camping radio now :)

ChrisDX Rating 7.9/10 :D

Hi Chris, does this radio open repeaters or is just for simplex. Was thinking of putting something cheap in the car.
Thanks paul.

That button is not for "Mon", its to "mom" call your mom or when your mom says your allowed to receive something :)

I take it that the next time I see you , you will have a battery underneath, this on one side & an antenna attached to the back - will you have a rotator on it too? lol
Or will it go in the trike?
