A shack on wheels

Post by adrianf1 »

Here is my QRP set up. A bit of the old and new :D
The Concorde 2 is now cable tied to the frequency meter for safety. I'm adding a preamp later.
Since taking the picture I have added a mic bracket on the corner.
Fast running out of power connections to an over stretched battery
Also looking to add an auxillary battery to run a linear if a suitable one can be found :?:

Brilliant looks like a plane cockpit now lol. But seriously well done, which radio do you prefer, which one is giving you the better results. Always interested in new vs old

I have a soft spot for the old Concorde 2 and I have some good DX reports on it.
But, I have now done the "white wire & jumper" mod to the Grant and it has improved the experience a lot.

Got to love the old school kit though :-)

Cant beat a bit of mobile DX especially during the Gray Line.
Love the Concorde II, used many but never owned one.
I will not be commanded, I will not be controlled.
n+1 the formula for working out how many radios you need with n being the current amount.

Hi Adrianf1
Would it be possible to post a picture showing how you made yourwooden moutning bracket, I can see the wood down the side of the seat but can't quite make out the other piece of wood and how it fits.

Your setup looks great would love to do something similar for mine.

Regards

Mark

Looks like plank shoved between seat & centre consol.
I suspect vertical bit of 2x3 screwed to that with a platform screwed to that.

Pain to mount radio in a modern car, really like the way this allows the radio controls to be to hand and facing directly at you, simple idea but looks really good. Thanks for the info regarding the 2x3 vertical etc, time to raid my scrap wood!
