had a go at it last year using PDW, took ages to get going and get a decent signal but when i did there wasnt much in the way of local stuff, im in the Coleraine/Ballymoney area, though did stumble across a couple of local messages one evening relating to roads in my local area and traffic accident details. not sure if it was fire brigade pager or some sort of ambulance dispatch?

havent tried it since as ive moved house since then.

I tried this a while ago but had absolutely no luck at all. I could clearly hear the data burst sounds on the scanner but no matter how I adjusted the levels I couldn't get anything. I think you need a discriminator output on your scanner. I don't think mine had that so I gave up. I'm sure it would be interesting all the same.
