Poorly FT 757.

Post by Bernard »

Now then Gents!

My old FT 757 Mk 1 has taken tappy lappy on me . Ever since I brought her back into comission she has performed great style,up till yesterday that is. Whilst checking the radio over ,before use, and with all connections unplugged, it bumped down an inch or so when the stand gave way.

When I fired it up again I discovered that I had no recieve on FM, fine on CW AM and SSB but deathly quiet on the FM . My local net ops tell me she is doing fine on Tx but I really struggle to hear them trying to get back to me.

What could be the problem?? dry joint maybe?component gone down?
All controls (AF/RF NB/SQL etc,etc are all set to what they should be. If anyone has had this experience with this radio any advice or help would be most appreciated(apart from chuck it in the bin)

Is FM an option board on a 757? I've never had a 757, but have had a 747 and 840, both of these radio's have an option board for FM.

Could be a number of things, but it has to be worth checking that the FM board hasn't just been dislodged slightly from the main board when the radio hit the desk.
