Is there none of the old antenna at all?

A antenna from a us version such as the 77-681 or the 13-861 fits well.

The portak antenna is in two parts bendable arm and a telescopic antenna that srews in

Website here has the manual that I scanned.

Used telescopic antenna do appear on eBay as does the rubber duck too.

If you've got the adjustable hinge/elbow (or even better, a spare one), you could solder in a telescopic aerial from an old Harvard/Alba etc handheld, again if you've got one spare. I reckon it'd be about the right size.

A antenna from a midland 77-9145 ready rescue set, or a max com 7E fits the midland knuckle or any other SOS CB radios with a rubber duck antenna

Thanks all ,nothing at all antenna wise was with the radio which is odd as the 12v plug and wire were cut through and stuffed inside the battery pack so someone tried to keep it together.
Was their any kind of matching coil on the factory antennas or just retractable and right length ?.

I shall keep eyes peeled on sites for sa!e but as long as I can use it I can managr.
Tested the radio last night and it really does work well.loud audio and not too bad on rx audio with good reveive.

Would something like a dv 27 work on these not having a large groundplane

Close-up of the aerial required. The coil is about 1/3 of the way down the aerial when extended:

So their is a coil on factory retractable antenna.
A friend knows of a none working unit with antenna so fingers crossed for spares and a replacement.
The firestik I imagine will work great dave, will try that too.

Fixed the 12 v power lead ,got my 2 dummy batteries also .didn't remember just how small these are as a complete unit. Was back in 81 I think I used one.
Loving it .

I seem to remember someone mentioning one version will take a mid block ?.the version with channel 9 printed on by selector ??

Try and get a top or mid-loaded aerial so the the RF isn't right next to the radio when the aerial is used whilst walking like it would be with a base-loaded aerial. The aerial clicks into the little holder clip so it's parallel to the radio, so would only be millimetres away from the components.

A 7ft Firestik would go nicely lol ;)
