CRT 7900

Post by 109 Jim »

my brother recently got a new 7900 and found the power out put is hardly reaching 10w in ssb on 11m but its giving full power on 10m , is this a known fault , ( tested with 2 antennas with low swr ) also the s meter level is very high where on other radios he has s0 the 7900 is showing s5 - 6 again is this normal , also the s meter sticks when tx ie say in rx the s meter shows s6 ,, press mike in ssb its still s6 untill you start talking , also the swr meter on the radio is showing say a 1.6 while on good quality meters its showing a 1.2 , pretty poor for a new radio if you ask me

Smeter reading high is normal, they pick up all crap, i had s4/5 on both the ones i had in my shack. When every other radio was max s2. Ssb power should be 25/30 watts, 10 am/fm. If you need the programme cable jim i might still have mine.
Kill em all and let god sort them out.

hi its my brothers radio and it was all programmed in by the shop , its the power issue on 11m thats bothering him , i cant see how its ok on 10m but 10w or less on 11m , could it be the swr in the radio showing higher than a external meter , i know for a fact his swr was well under 1.5 on 27.555 but on the 7900 it was showing 1.5 - 6 , i told him to get it sent back
