Grant 2 to mod or not.

Post by Alan Pilot »

Just got hold of a new old stock Grant 2.
It's the one without a heatsink on the back.
Going to sell it on so was thinking what would be best.
Bog standard or do the export mod ????.
Or even export with a switch on the rear but not sure at all about that one.

export Mod if it has not warranty left. No harm done at all and makes it more appealing to a buyer....

If doing the export mod I have success using a reed switch. Much nicer than and subtle, no big toggle or drilling and minimum wire length involved.
all you ever need is a small magnet after that.

Sure there is a thread about Grant 2 and reed switch around somewhere.
Can't help but love an Adams.

I remember some of the Stalker 9 F-DX's having the reed switch mod back in the day. A small magnet placed on the bezel above the UK/Norm switch would give you mid and high on all modes. Remove the magnet and the radio would go dead when not in UK mode. Simple idea, easy to install and very effective.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Reed switches and magnets on order should be here tomorrow.
Done hundreds of mods over the years but never thought of that one.
Thanks Stronty for the tip.
