Jentec channel boards

Post by Avenger »

Had 2 radio's back from Ebay yesterday and upon powering up the second one I was greeted with channel 95! now given this is an Audioline 341 I was surprised to say the least. I'm guessing Jentec must have made channel boards back in the day unless times were hard towards the end and they had to downgrade from the 148

Certainly unique! so what does that pan out at frequency wise? 1-40 UK and 41-95 EU 40 with Alphas??

I only had a quick look to see if it actually worked, however there's no TX so I'm not sure of the frequencies yet. Never know if it gets working I might get a black Jentec style faceplate for it just for a laugh!

I think its meant to be 4 blocks of 40 channels and the colour listed on the label refers the the multi colour led that repalces the RX light.

Theres obviously been a bit of time and money invested in it, Makes you wonder why anyone would bother converting an FM only radio, Keep us posted regarding the TX issue

I had a Cybernet Beta 3000 or Ford 505 that had the same 4 blocks of 40 in it, mentioned a couple of years back on here at the time somewhere. I can't recall if it was a Jentec board inside though.

Interesting. Could you post a picture of the top of that conversion board?

*edit* I just saw the soldered link so I guess you can't.

I can as I'll de-solder the link as I'd like to see it myself, I'm a bit tied up with car issues but hopefully will be onto it soon.

For the amount that's posted about Jentec 148's over the years It surprised me to see that name on the board as I don't think I've seen any mention of them selling conversion boards or likewise for any other radios.

Radio Pete will be the guy to ask if they sold conversion boards separately and why FM expansion boards (I suppose the old UK40 was overrun at the time though!)?

As promised here's the 3 boards that were in the radio, notice the toasted tantalum capacitor on pic 2 on the right of the board by the resistors
