nb is the switch of choice the bleep will require too many cuts to tracks its better to use an external switch.....will need a few days to drag a grant out and photo it ect

So if i cut all tracks around roger beep switch and wire it like on the pic it should work. That red cross in the switch means i need to connect the corners?

Remove J36 and J37, link wires from the holes to a switch as per picture. Hey presto 5kc jump. I think from memory it goes +5 on USB and -5 on LSB hope that helps.
Hi!

Can somebody explain me that switch? It's not clear for me what needs to be connected with that switch
I ended up trying this some time ago and unfortunately this method doesn't work, It isnt + or - 5kc, It may be close but not spot on and it cannot be aligned for 0 either or 5 will go off, All this does is swap the USB/LSB inductors around making the two modes go "off frequency" and does not get you zeros.

The easiest way to get zeros on a PC-999 is too get a Mauer module and that will get you exactly +5kc and also UK

Or the fiddliest way is to replace the three 15.4525 inductors for LB209s, [From a scrap PB010 or PC-879, I think LSB already uses an LB209] and the veractor [from a scrap PC-879] and that will get coarse on a black grant [fine and coarse] to do pretty much the same slide as a PB010 and the 15.4525 doesnt have to be replaced for a UNI 15.4500 either, There may be too much slide so a resistor from the wiper coarse trace to ground may be needed, This can vary in value to reduce the amount of slide, Too much slide and radio will start to drift, It could be done the same for the 15.0025 [Low band] as well but who uses zeros on Low ?

Those Maurer boards are great. They are not the cheapest way of doing things, but sometimes it is worth paying a bit extra and doing things properly.
I regard the PC-999 as one of (If not the best) performing Uniden boarded export radio, the only issue was the limitation of not doing zeros. The maurer module solves this.

To be honest I've done the above mod on my AE Grant with no issues . Obviously the AE pcb has the "slight" Coarse control on it , which allows me to get the 0"s easily .
