PSU recommendation for TS-590SG
So don't fancy forking out 3 or 400 quid for the kenwood psu so looking for some recommendations for a decent replacement. Looking to buy something for around 150 or so.

Thanks but was looking for something new with no work involved. Out of interest though are server power supplies filtered for HF band usage.

I use 600PB with 7610 since 3 years now. Great, quality PS for peanuts.

If you want to raise voltage to 13.8V: https://static.rcgroups.net/forums/atta ... PB%202.jpg
OVP mod: https://obrazki.elektroda.pl/4128460400_1513721548.jpg Lift that led and add 2 silicon diodes in series.

Not sure about the over voltage protection diagram . It's optional anyway . Right ?

Re: PSU recommendation for TS-590SG
Without OVP mod you can raise voltage up to 13.2V
Want more, 2x1n4148 in proper place

Re: PSU recommendation for TS-590SG
The first link states "Putting a 1K ohm pot between 3-9 allows for output voltage adjustment up to 13.8V."
So , is the diode mod necessary ?
Also . Is the diagram you posted right ?
If so , I may need to get some new glasses , as I don't see any leds ...

Re: PSU recommendation for TS-590SG
Without OVP mod, when you raise voltage up to 13.8V, under load OVP will trigger and switch off PS. 13.2 is the limit, where OVP don't trigger under load.

Re: PSU recommendation for TS-590SG
OK . Understood . Is there a better procedure for doing that OVP mod then ? Thanks

Re: PSU recommendation for TS-590SG
It is only method.
Let me explain how it works for better understanding.
OVP chip is measuring output voltage. Unmodded 12V output, when it hits circa 14V OVP trigger and switch off output.
When you raise intentionally output voltage with PR as described (what is fine) almost to the OVP trigger limit you are on the edge.
So you have to raise OVP trigger voltage a little. Adding 2 1n4148 or similar raise OVP trigger point by 1.4V what is completely fine.
Now you can run PS 14V output, full load without issues.

Re: PSU recommendation for TS-590SG
Hi Chris .
Sorry . Maybe "procedure" wasn't the right word . The photo for me isn't clear . Is there a "before" and "after" photo of the mod that I can use as reference ?
Thanks
Paul
