For HF, what are good kits for a starter to build HF antennas? Or is there a particular 1:1 balun to buy and a particular wire?

Any and possibly 5m high.

Too low for any HF dipole to work properly, but will work somehow.
You take as long wire as needed for 1/2 wave dipole, wind coax choke balun, hang, tune, use.
Personally I prefer bare copper wire 2.5 mm^2

My radio has an SWR, but I may well need an analyser.

Internal meters are not accurate enough to build and tune antenna IMO. Even in most expensive radios.
