Yaesu 450d Mic adapter to cybernet 4 pin ?

Post by original45 »

Been looking at the md 100 base Mic for my 450d but presently funds are a no go.
Noted on eBay I can buy a replacement Mic lead and it got me thinking could I wire the end to accept a 4pin cybernet base Mic as I have a leson 232.

Wondering if firstly I could simply wire the spare cable to 4pin and secondly if the leson would sound ok.I know it has a loud punch but how would it sound on on the hf.

Thank you

I used an old network cable, cut one end off short and soldered a 4 pin inline mic socket to it, after buzzing out the connections, so I can use cybernet wired 4 pin mics on my 857. It cost next to nothing and works a treat. Some mics sound better than others so trial and error 'til you find a good 'un. But very easy to do.
The perfect face for radio.

Chris that sounds a nice microphone from what I just read and watched reviews.
They seem to be very cheap too .
I wouldn't know how to wire that and I'm guessing fabricating a stand , switch so on not straight forward but I'm sure your bang on the money

How simple is it to wire one chris ?
What did you use for a ptt .
I could actually see using one as you would use for singing held in your hand quite comfy if the ptt was ergonomical.

I could make a nice stand from copper pipe fittings too.polished up look different
