Icom IC-24ET

Post by lambrettadave »

I own the above mentioned handheld.

I was reading the manual about setting the ctcss tone but apparently it was a option with either a ut-50 or a ut-51.

I have looked into buying either and both are available but the big question is....

Which one should I get?

One is ctcss encode only, the other is both encoder & decoder (dencoder)
For amateur band repeater access, you only need the encoder but if you intend to use it elsewhere, the "dencoder" is probably best.

Just so you know, I have bought a ut-51 for £14 and it was delivered in good time.
I have fitted it which took about 10 minutes and is working as intended.
