Ft 747gx display jumbled on switch on..

Hi Guys, As in title, when switching on my 747gx after a power down, it’s switching on with the display all jumbled up, segments of the display lite etc that are not needed.. Now if I Flick the small switch on the front panel underside that controls the memory back up on/off, to the off position and power off just the radio it all resets to 7mhz and all is back operating fine again until I power off the radio and supply again with the memory switch back in the on position. Is this a sign the back up battery is getting depleted or is there something else going on here..

Just a note to anyone reading this post with the same or similar display problem, in my case it was indeed a depleted battery, new one installed and all is well again..
