Icom IC-7300
Thinking about buying one of these radios soon, its a toss up on this one or the FT-950 or 1200DX. I would prefer the 7300 as it is newer. Anyone got this radio? and what do you think about it?
I have read a few reviews but they are 50/50...

Love it, nice radio all round, for SWL and ham use. Lovely display, great sounding. Good DSP/NB/filters etc. Internal tuner works on my 9:1 random wire with no problems. 4m band as well. I could go on

Do you use the stock mic?owza wrote:Love it, nice radio all round, for SWL and ham use. Lovely display, great sounding. Good DSP/NB/filters etc. Internal tuner works on my 9:1 random wire with no problems. 4m band as well. I could go on
I have several mics here but I prefer to use the Heil heritage that i use on my other Icom fed thru the ACC socket via a mixer/eq
I was thinking about the other models I quoted but I really do like the look of the 7300.

Yes the HM-219. I have received good reports with minimal tweaking, just a bit of compression.

Mate of mine has one. Lovely radio and I would pick it over the other two.

Re: Icom IC-7300
Had one a while, I don't always use the waterfall feature which is the headline grabber, use the screen to display swr/mod/current etc when in a qso - but think its a great little set, easy to use and does its job as well as any other radio I've had.
Nothing wrong with the standard mic.

I must admit to being tempted to get the IC-7300 as my first HF rig as opposed to the Yaesu FT991 from what I've read over the past few weeks.

Re: Icom IC-7300
I have this radio for 10 months and i like it very much. I had it compared with my IC7851 and i have to confess that the 7300 is very good in comparison with the bigger brother. I have no trouble with the OVF.

Re: Icom IC-7300
I sold mine, found the waterfall a bit unnecessary, so then it was just a decent radio, and I have several of those.
