Yaesu VX5r frustration...

Post by wabsnazsm »

Evening all... I'm having the devil's own time with the vx5r. It's not working the local repeater at all. It's all set up OK. Tone, split and all the stuff but it seems that it doesn't actually transmit properly. It works in simplex but it just won't do the repeater split thing. When I press the PTT button, the display shows the TX frequency and when it is released, I get the RX. So, why won't the flipping thing work? Is it utterly knackered or am I doing something really daft? {bnghd}

What repeater is it?

Check indeed have correct CT set for the repeater trying to access, and that it's enabled for TX. Check repeater is actually in operation and not shut down for whatever reason. Also, you might hear the repeater but doesn't mean you can access it with a handheld if not enough TX power to open it.
