Hello from the Scottish Borders

Post by miggy999 »

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new user of this site from the Scottish Borders. Mostly into listening to civil aircraft. Got a Uniden UBC125XLT with a Slim-G antenna in the loft and also listen mobile in the car.

Love the diversity of the site and looking forward to participating, learning and asking for help :-)

Welcome Miggy. I am on Tyneside, so not a million miles from you. No doubt you've been enjoying the increased Military activity in our skies during lockdown, certainly EGNT has seen its fair share of unusual visitors, as well as the Americans in transit OTT off to play games in Scotland.

Welcome to the forum, great to have you on board.

Thanks for the welcome MrWeetabix. Indeed not a million miles away.

I certainly have noticed them on the radar sites but not so much on the listening side of things. I am maybe listening in the wrong place of course...

I know the Yanks don't often show on RADAR but I don't have hear them rattling the tiles going OTT. The DC10 airtanker frames are the best sounding though.

I don't have any capacity to listen to mil comms, so only ever hear them as they come into EGNT for touch and goes. We had the Hawker Hunter doing test flights down here the other week, he told DTV ATC that he was planning on doing a bombing run on Middlesbrough town centre! haha.
