Hello!

Post by Arrna »

Hi all, just thought I would say hello!

Totally new to this dabbled way back in the day on my friends CB when we were about 14 yrs old back in the 80's, but came across a Lincoln II ver3 for the car, at the moment not installed but will be soon. Trouble is I have no idea on the history of this radio apart from it has stickers from knights but they hold no details on it, so I may ask for guidance! I have read they are not totally legal on power output is that correct?

Apologies for any stupid questions in advance.

All the best.

Hi mate and welcome to TM1

I have not owned a Lincoln 2 so I am not going to much help with hour to use it, but in short no, they are not legal for use in the uk

With that said, the chances of getting caught or having anyone care are extremely slim, especially if you’re mobile. The authorities only really care of you cause interference to licensed services, which doesnt really matter on cb (aka 11meters). Just make sure you dont transmit above 28mhz and nobody will give a stuff

I am not sure if the Lincoln two has a bank of 40 for the Uk muppet band or not though, which is the traditional UK FM band you’re probably familiar with. Perhaps someone else on the forum who knows can assist, but I just don’t know I am afraid.

The user manual is at the link below. English starts at page 29 thought it doesnt not give details on its frequency setup in export mode.

https://president-electronics.com/cache ... 02-146.pdf

Another thing to note is that if it is in Amateur Radio (aka HAM) mode it will only transmit on the 12m and 10m amateur radio bands. It will need modified to work on CB/11m freqs....

I have a president McKinley and its a very similar radio. To export the radio you cut the white wire and move a jumper.

Hopefully one of the bands will be UK 40
