Greetings from South London

Post by Jake the arsonist »

Hello, have just got the old radio out of the loft. Comtron NATO/CXX, with floor standing 3 legged ground plane aerial
( Can't remember what it's called, and it's unmarked ). Sat up Box Hill north Surrey the other night...and listened...only one 3 way conversation heard on UK FM...
Otherwise, very quiet background....not like it was back in early 80's.
Band selection available:
US1-40 ( is this band D, low ssb ? )
US+40. ( band E, high ssb ? )
UK FM (27/81)
Both AM and FM. 5 watts......or possibly a little more.

Have to re-tune aerial for each band to achieve a good swr reading. But can get it better than 1:1.

Will have another go over the next few weeks.

Was that too much for first contact?

Regards to all, Jake.
