Inverted V dipole which way up ?

I have a inverted V dipole one of them you screw the 3/8 antenna thingeys into dose it matter which way up it is mounted as it will only be used on my scanner so no TX use , ?

the clue is in the name 'inverted V'

if it was a V dipole it would look like a , erm...V..
but is it's inverted then, it's erm.......not a V but an A type shape..

but both work differently, feedpoint impedance is different to that of a center fed dipole also.

as a vertical V then it is bi directional,
and an inverted V then they claim it's omni directional (not vertical though)

as pretty much everything commercial is vertical try to keep the same polarisation.
unless like me and a few mates who purposely run horizontal to avoid noise of course.

i don't think you'll receive as good as you would using a normal dipole vertical.
