245Mhz Transmitions What is it?

Hi all i am getting What sounds like Skip On 245Mhz its all day long could it be satellite transmissions? if so anyone k how i could improve reception.I
am using RSD-DUO with diamond v 2000 antenna

South American illegal radio users - mostly lorry drivers on an open US DOD satellite.. has been going on for a while now..

Proper is good but it's overkill to listen to Satcom. Much easier to knock up a quick NBS yagi, it'll be 3dB down on circular which is nothing to worry about.

I use a DAB folded dipole from B&Q. It seems to work best horizontally, but there's not a lot in it. The transmissions can pop up almost randomly between about 245 and 256 MHz, so it's worth tuning about. There are some satellite transponder 'stripes' around 244.2 and 249.2 as well, which you should see if you are using an SDR.

I think most of the pirates on satcom speak Portuguese actually. At least in the recordings I've seen
