450.2250-Nottingham Speech Inversion
I decided to have all the default frequencies in my scanner that the Baofeng's come with as I know many people will just use them out the box albeit illegally. This one popped up today with the speech inversion/scrambler function turned on....450.2250.
Worth having these in your scanner if you haven't already: (edited post to include ctcss/dcs)

Re: 450.2250-Nottingham Speech Inversion
Bloody hell, are people really using these things straight out of the box? I'd have hoped that most folk that would be likely to buy these over "official" PMR446 sets would at least have the knowledge to realise that they need to reprogram them pronto.
What I find more disturbing is that the people you picked up using speech inversion must have a programming cable/software and the knowledge to use it, as I'm pretty certain that the default frequency setup doesn't have the scrambler switched on on any of the channels and there's no way to turn it on other than though the software. So, someone has taken the time to activate the scrambler, but not to move them to a frequency that doesn't run the risk of interfering with Fireground channels.
This is the sort of s**t that ruins everyones' fun.

Re: 450.2250-Nottingham Speech Inversion
I know of a security company that bought some to use for themselves and then sold over 50 to some of their clients to use on their sites....None of which have changed the frequencies. I tried to advise them but it was like explaining quantum physics to a 4 year old. (I know nothing about quantum physics by the way)

reviving this thread..
i have found channel 3 on 446 is using speech inversion,
seems it's LIDL supermarkets all on channel 3 all scrambelled.
now i bought some 888 off ebay like oyu do in a hope to getting one or a pair with the speech inversion thing and not found any yet, but two i just bought were both programmed with channel 3 446 on every channel.
so early LIDL ??
any how if anyone has a 888 or other with a working inversion and wants to trade for some 888 with no inversion message me

You need to be looking for pre 2012, best are 2009. Look for the green update sticker plus a number near the CE and also an ! On the sticker. Use Chirp to program it under beatshift tab. Had a number of these in the past but since they started letting me down I ditched them. Just as cheap to buy secondhand moto gear.bigpimp347 wrote: ↑12 Nov 2021, 00:01 reviving this thread..

Also lookout for the belt clip threads, the type You want have them direct into the radio Chassis and not into the plastic body back plate.bigpimp347 wrote: ↑12 Nov 2021, 09:34 Ok just found this 'update' sticker..
