454.325 MHZ weird data and voices
I get weird data 454.325 MHZ sometimes voices
I heard once a guy say
on "testing precipitation testing testing test complete with voices in the background"
sometimes I hear dtmf and weird data sounds like POCSAG pagers?
I forgot to record the voice but this is what I hear its pretty regular

Yes you are right it is a hospital pager. If you can sit through the paging noises long enough you may hear a vocal transmission such as Crash call, or as in your case, Testing, testing (at which point staff will call using a landline to confirm they could hear the transmission)marcusabacus wrote:Hospital paging also quite close to a mosque frequency , where are you based?

Barnsley district general hospital
Uni of sheffield
York hospital nhs foundation trust
Above are all listed for that frequency so guessing it is probably York hospital
BTW Is that a UV5R that you were using?

Thanks for the possible places they would come from.
Yes it is a baofeng uv 5r transceiver I think it was using the diamond antenna at the time.

I get this hospital pager Russells Hall Hospital ,Dudley.
What mode is it if not Flex or Pocsag?
Run it on DSD and mode comes up as QPSK but doesn't decode. Is there any decode software for this?

Re: 454.325 MHZ weird data and voices
I heard this same thing in the centre of Harrogate last night - data noises plus some testing testing stuff. Also what sounds like their porters on 166.8mhz, CT 162.2. The latter can be heard a good 10miles away. Either they have some sort of relay system or their handsets are bloody good.

Re: 454.325 MHZ weird data and voices
I get hospital porters semi-duplex on UHF analogue & digital on my Baofeng 1801. I'm about 7 miles away (heavily built up urban area) and their signal easily surpasses the local Parking Assistants in the square mile around me! Definitely a local repeater system in use!
