Alexa Skill for Searching / Identifying shortwave broadcasts

Post by Test for Echo »

Amazon recently approved an Alexa skill I've written that lets you identify a broadcast by frequency along with time and language.

The scenario I had in mind is when you run across a station in the waterfall or spinning the dial and you're not sure what it is.

Rather than grabbing a tablet/phone, signing in, launching an app, tapping the search box, typing in the frequency etc, you can just ask Alexa to find the station and it will tell you.

If the language is identifiable, you might ask using frequency and language, otherwise, frequency and time is a good bet.

It uses the EiBi schedules and is updated regularly.

This video shows it in action (a bit rough and ready - but you'll get the idea)
