Hello all
I have an ft-840 and i have cat control that i use to control my logging software log4om
I downloaded WSJT-X and have put the setting on the radio i use and the correct com port
What i want to know it how does this all work im new to ft8
I have the radio on and cat lead in pc and set to the correct com port (com port 2 in my case)
I sent a lead from the ext speaker port on the back of the radio to the mic input of my pc
The output was put to my speakers (pc) but when i test it and the radio keys up i get a god awful noise (i know im new but its not ft8 sound)
What have i done wrong?

Re: FT-840 and WSJT-X how to connect?
I would try connecting AF out to Line in for the radio to PC path, see if you can get a decode.
The TX path I'm not sure, PC line out to mic in, but that maybe too much - you are probably best looking for a FT840 USB interface, such as the tigertronics.
On top of which, I'm not sure the FT840 Oscillator is stable enough for digital
