I hate it when the buggers stick parcel tape all over the boxes. It devalues them as well as looking pants. It's just lazy.

Not to mention risky considering the contents of the box and it's lengthy journey to the UK. Just crazy.

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Considering our old postman used to drop stuff 7ft over our back gate with trellis on top (including radios before I wrote a "note" with permanent marker on the trellis), definitely! Ideally, you want about 3" of polystyrene or bubblewrap protection around a radio.

Okay so I went for one of these, it arrived a short time ago, it is clearly not new, it doesn't work, and the side screws show clearly that the radio has been opened, several times. There is little rf output, and the frequency does not change when the channel selector is rotated. It has scratches and marks all over it. The mic is not a westland and frankly I'm disgusted. I've contacted the seller to see what he wants me to do with it.

The only thing right with the description was the word new OLD stock,, Shocking stuff, Nothing worse than that kind of disappointment. What does the seller think is gonna happen when they do stuff like that, Its beyond me..

Yep, thats about the size of it, really disappointed because others on here using the same seller have received good NOS radio's. Well I've contacted the seller and sent photographs and unless we can come to some arrangement, its going to be returned whether he wants it not. I can't wait to hear the excuse, its going to be epic. 😅

The only thing I can think of is the seller didn't check inside the boxes. Mine didn't have any stickers attached to the radio as yours does.

From what's been said the seller is very helpful so hopefully there'll be a positive outcome.

Fully agree. A basic test would be enough to see if a radio is usable/serviceable.

When mine arrived, as well as the copious amount of parcel tape, the original strip of tape used to seal the box was still intact. Human eyes had not gazed upon this radio for 40 odd years.
