Re: New Radio - President George II
Thats my point.... keep the retro looks and just update the internals. Should have been the same for all the classic radios they did a new version of. lincoln 2 with new features and hardware in a classic chassis, YES PLEASE

Full agree! Think thats why the Jackson 2 sold so well, was that absolute classic feel with new internals.

Re: New Radio - President George II
This looks far too much like the Grant 2. I doubt it will come close to the original George.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!
Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Re: New Radio - President George II
I am hoping it can improve on the original George, as that radio did have a couple of flaws.
Overload on strong SSB signals and the inability to do anything other than frequencies ending on 5 or 0 unless lots of buttons were pressed to put it into UK mode.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Any more news on this?
A cross between a Grant II and a George sounds like an awesome radio

A Grorge ? I never bothered with the original George. Had the Grant II briefly , but to be honest I don't particularly like the looks of the newer President radios much .

Re: New Radio - President George II
I love the President George. The one I have I bought new from Knights Radio in March 2001. It does its job very well to this day. Function wise it was years ahead of its time.cb4ever104 wrote: ↑09 Jan 2022, 19:58A Grorge ? I never bothered with the original George. Re: New Radio - President George II
I briefly had a P. James and the security code gimmick was a PITA to be honest. Even worse was trying to suss out which buttons to press to get it to switch between EU and UK...when it did finally work. It was a lovely-looking radio, but certainly not one that was user-friendly and the same pain IIRC as a George I'd had use of for a few days back in the 90's for FM use.
I preferred the Shogun SSB I was also given for a few days for ease-of-use to be honest, but this is from someone who wasn't/still isn't used to SSB radios.
Just using the same front/chassis as the latest Grant is just lazy in my eyes. Why not bring something out that's out-of-the-box, rather than another boring clone of yet another boring radio?
