Well, I have finished this job, meter powers on and frequencies change with channel selector. See photos. Sometime this week my New Antron 99 antenna will arrive and I will then have the opportunity to see the transmit and receive range of my radio after approximately 20 yrs.

I welcome any suggestions.

Hello Claude, I pray all has been well with you. That radio seems to be an Official "Cobra 148GTL/EX.. Didn't know, but I now see the resemblance.

Forgot to mention Claude, I finally got everything I needed to properly function on the air waves. I have a New Antron 99 17' antenna, coax, Watt/Swr meter. Also bought a 100w Am/200w Fm, RM italy KL-203p Linear.

Of course, I'd be using the Cobra 25 Ltd with Linears full force, but with the 3900G I'd drop wattage to 4 or 5w, so as to not push the Linear. Also, being that the 3900G is pretty old, I am planning to take it to the local and very competent Cb shop down here. And that is it pretty much.

I am also looking at this meter, perhaps you know of it, MFJ-971. See photo..

Cheers, John

Hello gentlemen, has anyone any info on a vintage "80s or 90's" Cobra power mic, which I've seen regarded as Cobra 148GTL? It has 6 wires, shield, black, red, yellow white and green. The odd thing is, there is no model number on it. I bought it from an estate sale. I am thinking of wiring for a SS 3900G. Just wondering if the 4 pin wiring will change (which I suppose). See photos

Problem I am having is that in some 6 wire mics, there's either a blue or a green. So when I look at a possible way to solder which wire to what pin, I'm wondering if the green does the job of the blue, except its a different color?? I can't use my multimeter bcuz its fallen several times and lately not giving correct readings.. Any ideas?

I picked this mic up along with an Astatic RD104E from an estate sale, in which all equipment is said to be in working condition. It originally has the following wiring sequence: 1-Blk/shield, 2- Red, 3-white, 4- green. Yellow N/C.

All you need is the diode test on your meter. That should indicate which are TX and RX.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Just because you haven't had a solution on the other dedicated thread that you opened for this issue yet doesn't mean that you should start double posting the same issue on other threads .

It's not that m8 . It's just that you have people already replying , trying to help you on the thread that you opened for this problem . Now you've kicked it off again on this thread which has nothing to do with the problem that you're having . That just causes issues on the forum with different people replying to different threads about the same issue .
