Ranger 2950DX

Post by NightProwler »

Hey all, I just bought a Ranger RCI 2950DX because I have always fancied one. Anyway it's being posted so I don't have it yet. I have never owned one before but I understand there are different versions so could someone tell me which one I just bought? It says on the back...

MAAS
Serial - T50800081
Made in Taiwan

Cheers...Rich

The Ranger serial numbers don't really help Rich . I think the way to check the version of the 2950 is by the display . I think the early ones had the first digit smaller than the rest . If I'm wrong , then I'm sure someone will correct me .

Cheers Sammy. I got this one off our favourite auction site but it was a good price and looks mint. Although sold as working it was not switched on in the photo so im not sure about the display. Time will tell I suppose.

Hi Rich,

Ranger serial numbers work as follows: the first number (5) is the year (2005) and the second number (08) is the month (August) so yours is....August 2005! Display should have the full size first digit, black on green display, not sure if it's 26-32 or 24-32 Mhz, probably the former. Anyway, it's a good year for them, had a quite a few from that era and rated them highly. The 'MAAS' sticker would indicate it would have come in via Germany at some point.

Cheers
Dom

Didn't know that Dom . However , here's the back of a 3900 .

It starts with 481 , so I'm not sure how that equates to what you've written above ?

Hi Sammy, that's not a 'true' Ranger as such, it doesn't start with a T. All 2950DX, 2995DX, etc (that I've owned anyway) use that system, even Ranger mention it somewhere on the American site. Having difficulty uploading pictures for some reason , I was going to share a picture of my 'old' 2995 DX that was built in February 2008, serial no: T80200068
