Re: Crt
The radio looks really nice and the reviews say it's a good radio and stays on frequency.
Is the CRT 7900 the same radio? or is it best to stick with the Anytone?
I really like the radio you recommend so thanks

I'm more than sure, that radio is radio made in the same barn in Shenzhen. On day shift it is called Anytone, night shift Super Star

Re: Crt
I have a 5555N here. Good radio's that perform very well for what they are. They are full size sets though (think Cobra 148 GTL-DX) so maybe a struggle to use mobile in some of today's more compact cars.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!
Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Re: Crt
It won't be going in the car as the wife likes her music too much
It will be going in the spare room where I have a little music studio.
So will have to try and find a space somewhere and that's hard as there isn't any.
I have to share the room with the wife's four snakes and a frog.
I'm ordering the AT-5555N Tuesday and I just need to read some reviews on some home base antennas and power supplies.
Once again thanks for the help sir.

OK, today I learned that snakes don't eat frogs.

Re: Crt
I have the CRT 7900 here. Performs really well. Same radio as the 5555N.
The V2 is the current model. Early versions suffered from AGC issues on strong SSB signals.
Couldn't really go wrong.

Re: Crt
I'm the type of person to read a ton of reviews and then ask a ton of people their opinions.
I want to make the right decision because there was two models I had been recommend.
5555n and the 9900 but the 9900 they said got too hot so that put me off even though it has more coverage and it's a newer radio?
Anyway I think I will go with the first choice but thanks for the info and advice.

Re: Crt
I have both the 7900 V2 and a V3 9900. They both do the same job, albeit in a different sized package. Later versions (V3 & V4) of the 9900 cover 12m but if you don't need that band, it's not important.Master Virus wrote: ↑09 Oct 2019, 10:16

Yes, the 9900 does run hot but that's usually caused by folk running 40 + watts on FM for long periods. The 5555N/7900 are no different. All of these export type radios will become very warm if their outputs are run at full blast for long periods. As for the 5555N/7900, these are identical radios. In fact, I think you would be hard pushed to find the Anytone derivative these days. If you're buying new, the CRT SS7900 is the V2.
Anyway, enjoy whatever one you decide on.
