Absolutely. Mines on a fence post attached to a 4ft steel pipe as being located next to the airport I’m not allowed a mast or anything else. Plus it’s below roof level as local laws don’t allow anything else.

Sadelta = Yes how it’s designed the standard Mike / very limited other Mikes work on it.
Thanks for the information Simon,
It can't be a good situation you're in then.

I get a tad fed up with "Double Edged Sword" posts on the internet regarding my Youtube videos, like Lemmy above telling me about Propagation in the early 90's,as if I don't understand how things work!, "Tommy" sticking his nose in to what I do, it's my business, believe it or not it takes real effort now to do anything after my Life changing event and whilst I don't want flowers I'm proud not to run a Peanut Whistle Station here.
I fully believe it wasn't all Roy's Delta Loop doing the work and I was happy as it was just the radio power.
I'll keep doing the right thing for the hobby, best I can.

Regards,
Dave.
I do vidz now and then but rarely get any feedback, so I continue to do what I want in my video.
To be honest my vidz must be junk due to the number of hits they get.
You have a loyal following community and probably only a small amount negative feedback.
Keep on doing what keeps you happy
I watch them and they seem good to me, but then I watch most radio related ones, thanks for the comments mate.......anyway back to the McKinley, I see you have one too!

I'm quite impressed with mine, at least on receive. I have extremely poor hearing and that means very limited ability with most narrowband transmissions such as SSB and AM/FM. I can really only listen to audio that's not over compressed or hasn't been EQ'd to death, so that really limits me.
Even with these limitations, I find the Mckinley audio to be pretty decent. Using the tone control and Hi-Cut filter, I've been able to hear stations with a degree of clarity that are simply not heard on other comparable 11m radios, especially the ones with high IF noise or wide SSB filter skirts.

In the end, I decided to expand mine. The only change I've made is to crank down the RF power on AM & FM, as it's too high. I would imagine a few long transmissions on FM at full whack would seriously stress the regulators. I've had a couple of QSOs on SSB and one on FM and reports on audio have been favourable. No quietness reported on FM.

So, in my opinion, they seem to have got this one almost right, with only a small number of very minor complaints and these are just my own if being critical.

It's definitely staying on the bench!

Do you find that the radio gets VERY hot on the right hand side and the back near where the power lead goes on?

Mine is still in normal legal mode and it certainly gets hot!

 Well, I've went as far as mounting the radio with its bracket, so I reckon at least 30 minutes!

I presume your checking the hot spot after a period of transmitting? On receive, mine was mildly warm but became quite hot after transmitting for a while. Less so on SSB.
That's why I cranked the RF power back after expansion, as the radio does nearly 30 watts on all modes. It would become extremely warm.

I think it's the AM regulator that is warming up at the area you mention.

Yes after 10-15 mins of normal chat on FM I find the radio gets very hot and that's just on 4 Watts. I can only imagine how hot it gets on export power.

The only other radio I've got which gets this hot is my little Albrecht 6110.

Thanks for the comments. It means a lot.
I was wanting a compact ssb rig that can be used on the road with ease. this is going to fit my needs.
While most of us will say that it's expensive but in reality most of president's top rigs were expensive.

While pressing the microphone ptt, press the key that is next to the F key (key with a dot), then briefly press in the channel knob. You can then rotate the channel knob to decrease or increase power. Remember to keep the PTT pressed throughout. Once you have selected the power setting, press and hold the channel knob until you hear a beep.
