Re: President McKinley EU Incoming
I'm u.decided wether to buy the president or a dynascan 1066 as they seem to have all the bells and whistles and some good power out of the back end standard.
What do you chaps think McKinley or dynascan.

Re: President McKinley EU Incoming
Question...I believe these can be UK Legal, but what does that look/feel like for using it?
Is it just an 80ch radio, with SSB on 40 of those? Is it a Band A, Band B type thing?
Also, what is the procedure for changing from a UK Legal setting to an export setting?
Also, anyone had a play with the VOX Mic input on the rear?
Currently exploring UK Legal SSB Radio options and this just made the top of the list.... thanks guys

I can confirm that VOX is working fine with the proper settings. I did JS8 and SSTV with McKinley, my PC and a USB sound card.

I think this is a great feature, means I dont have to build another interface and/or means I can sell my last remaining Signalink! :-)scanplorer wrote: ↑08 Mar 2021, 13:20 I can confirm that VOX is working fine with the proper settings. I did JS8 and SSTV with McKinley, my PC and a USB sound card.
What software are you using and do you just feed 3.5mm cables direct in/out of the radio from the PC? Any links to examples? Cheers

I am using an extenrnal USB card and JS8call/MMSSTV from software side. Any kind of this applications will work if you can choose the VOX option and the in/out of sound card. Then you need to adjust proper the volume levels in PC and VOX and sencitinity levels at McKinley.

Re: President McKinley EU Incoming
Question.... Is undoing the export mod on the Grant 2 and McKinley as-easy as reconnecting the cut wire and moving the Jumper back to its opposing position? I have read articles and seen videos on expanding, but no mention if a simple reversal is possible?
Posted the same thing twice on two threads as there are McKinley and Grant users on each who can advise. Cheers

Re: President McKinley EU Incoming
I was watching that one that just finished on eBay. Glad I done some research on the USA Version before bidding though, apparently it cannot be expanded into Export by any means, so it would have been an expensive Midband set, with no FM either. It just sold for £87 including delivery....

I see RTI Is selling one of these on eBay.... claims its brand new, not sure if I believe that. I didn't have him pegged as an actual business who were a supplier of new goods.... :-/

Knights are cheaper, but that's no surprise. I'm surprised there isn't more of a price difference though. I've not had a lot of luck buying from Kamsat. Their returns process is painless, but I have been the victim of poor packing twice, and the wrong item was delivered once. I have only ordered from them three times.MrWeetabix wrote: ↑10 Mar 2021, 17:08 I see RTI Is selling one of these on eBay.... claims its brand new, not sure if I believe that. Yeah I think I am going for Knights in the end, but it was just curious that RTI popped up!

You just need to put the jumper back into its original position to get it back to legal settings.MrWeetabix wrote: ↑08 Mar 2021, 23:04 Question.... Re: President McKinley EU Incoming
So I reached out to a friend of the Forum today and I am getting some pricing on a McKinley tomorrow.
If a grant comes up, might still grab it, I much prefer the looks of the Grant. I asked if I can share the pricing when received with the forum and he said yes, so will post when I have news

I have considered these before, but I ideally want one thats UK Legal. Not sure if they’d comply, even if you could program them to suit.astradyne wrote: ↑11 Mar 2021, 23:23 These are currently for sale on ebay. Bargain price and fully programmed to a configuration of your choice.
