Whereabouts in Somerset are you Tim? If you're towards the north end of Somerset, I might be able to hear you once I've got ny aerial up.Tim Tom wrote: ↑18 Jun 2020, 18:55Which over here are unfortunately may aswell just be a a cobra made coaster. Either way seems like a good radio just hope that it does actually txThe Collector wrote: ↑18 Jun 2020, 18:27 There are some almost identical looks-wise but without the important "EU" on the end. I think they're probably purely US/AM mid-block models

Ah...it's about 25 miles to my side of Bridgwater from me (used to work from Express Park there) and about 35-ish miles to Taunton I reckon. It's do-able but not with my aerial lying on the floor like it is at the moment. Once I can buy my poles, finish off my home-made winch thing and hoik the Imax up, I might just about stand a chance.

Back on subject (sorry, I do rabbit on), I got bored and won a boxed Murphy mobile radio. I know they're 10-a-penny as a rule, but it's only the second one I've seen with its box and this one looks mint (well it does in the poor-quality pictures anyway). It didn't cost the world, so fingers crossed eh

Bought a new President McKinley.... From Jabber products limited.... (Not my shop unfortunately)
Hoping this is better than the Lincoln 2 plus...
First BNIB radio for a long time... ‘kiddie in a sweet shop’
Will post an update when I have had a play with it...

If you don't get out very well, try swapping the aerial for a Les Wallen Modulator (not one of the dozen or so copies out there). Hopefully it'll be okay though.

All the goodies turned up today and fitted and all works great. However I have now learned that because the antenna isn't set up itself for SWR, doing it yourself manual can be a right pain in the ar*e

I haven't swr'd in a mobile aerial for about 30 years now. Must do the aerial I've now got for the car one of the days.
