Re: What CB/11m Radio Stuff did you buy today? (2018)
Collected my second Rotel 240, Cobra 19X, Midland 77-095 & Major CB20 SWR/power meter today... I say collected since a mess up by Parcel Farce meant they sent them out for delivery and then took them back to the depot, so I went round and sent a flea for their ear too.
Quite pleased overall, the Rotel is by no means a virgin & as well as some repairs it's also had the mic connector moved to the right side of the case but is working apart from the mic being dead. I think that will become my mobile station once I've given it a once over since the one currently in the car is worth keeping for "best". The Midland also works but has no mic of it's own & the Cobra is as yet untested but supposedly dead. Meter has a noisy pot but seems alive enough. Looking good for having a couple of stations on-air on the 2nd...

Arrived yesterday....pure filthy antenna porn for the likes of me!

An original MK1 Grant, this came to me not working as it should it had been modified to work on 10 meters instead.
I sent the radio to our resident radio tech Nick Black Spirit & it now covers mid-hi & 1-40 muppets,he also added a +10Khz step up on the Brite/ Dim button for mw.
In very nice clean condition (just a small mark along the top of the fascia bezel).
Chuffed with & it & great audio reports .
Stands me at £60.
Chewers Nick for a top job

A Midland 77-805 (Porta-a-Pack).
This i acquired from an advert that i placed on a local Facebook Buy & Sell Group.
It came boxed & looks cosmetically like new & appears to of seen very little use (if any).
It came minus the telescopic antenna as the seller mislaid it & could not find it , so if anybody has one to sell i will be interested in buying it from you.
Price paid... £20

A dark coppery-bronze-coloured fascia would go lovely with those gold knobs. I have strange tastes thoughcb4ever104 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2019, 15:05 Jupiter.JPG
I'm going to clean this up and "pimp it up" in silver , with the gold controls I think .

To be honest I like that gold 3900 GHP facia . The problem is that the bezel is gold , and I've never even seen one before . So I think I'll put a silver one on it , and get a new decal on it with gold on it somewhere maybe . These old Jupiters are great radios . Last of the Taiwan EPT boards with twin finals . Can't go wrong with them .The Collector wrote: ↑21 Nov 2019, 20:45 A dark coppery-bronze-coloured fascia would go lovely with those gold knobs. I have strange tastes though

Re: What CB/11m Radio Stuff did you buy today? (2018)
I tarted up one of my stealth 360's a while back. It was pretty rough on the exterior but perfect inside. I used a NOS 3900 bezel, a NOS 148 GTL/EX with gold print and I can't remember where I got the black knobs from. Anyhow it looks a treat now. I painted the indicator lines with gold model paint to match the lettering.
The black and chrome go well together.

That looks good Andy , but I think I'll still try and do something to highlight the gold controls . I won't go overboard . It'll sell easier as well if it's silver or gold . Black radios for some reason are harder to sell .

Trends are changing again. When the first 3900 Black radio's first came out people couldn't get hold of them quick enough.cb4ever104 wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 13:22That looks good Andy , but I think I'll still try and do something to highlight the gold controls . You must post some pics when it's done Paul.

Will do Andy , although it might take me a while as I've 4 or 5 others that I need to sort out first . On top of that I'm only working on them for about 5 or 6 days a year at the moment Roll on retirement !

Re: What CB/11m Radio Stuff did you buy today? (2018)
Fidelity 3000FM Base station arrived today, a cheeky ebay bid after reading a bit about them on here. Not in the greatest condition, there's a bit of wear around the controls & a divot melted out of the top from either soldering iron or fag end & a pair of random black/red wires protruding out the back for something or other. Guessing from how thin the wires are it's some kind of trigger for a tape recorder but will see when I open it up.
Looking forward to bleed-over galore lol

You can't beat a bit of gold, especially when it's real gold (albeit 22k plating)...
