just had a look inside
can anyone tell me if it has been modified ?

it is just the am ssb version no fm fitted as far as i can tell
the block of crystals has a number uni fl-065
reason i am asking is there is a hold drilled in the back of the unit
nothing fitted just a piece of tape covering the hole

any help would be great thanks

Just had a look in my 9 and it's similar but mine has no selcall like yours, I thought it was just the fdx that had it? The fdx had the PA hole taped over from the factory as standard as it doesn't have PA function on it.
Looks like you have a half 9 half 9fdx radio? I'm sure someone else on here will know the score.

Sorry should have added its defo a 9 board you have there and not a 9dx as they are quite different.

You don't see many black-fronted standard 9's. I thought the first one I saw was a home-brew printed job.

I'd never seen one , but I'm no expert on those radios . Thought someone had maybe bought a black JACK and put a Stalker sticker over the name
