1. They're not rare, I know where 3 are, and there are probably hundreds out there.
2. They're no better than a bog standard 148/360FM.
3. Nugent wasn't a genius, he was a talented radio technician, I'm sure Nick could knock one up if he so chose.
4. At least the price isn't completely ridiculous (considering Ashtec paid £700 for a broken one).

I think most people buy them as a part of CB radio history? Not my cup of tea but each to their own.
I'll pay whatever i think it's worth...:-)

The Gumtree one sold on eBay for a nice profit (so long as they paid up). Think it was Mudslinger, Astradyne or similar. Fair play ;)

The buyer used "Buy it Now" , so I presume it was a legitimate sale ?

It's impossible to shill bid a BIN.

As previously stated, £395 is a stupid amount of money for a 148GTL DX, but, compared to the daft prices of MK5s of previous years, it was priced to sell.

Compared to the dog that Ashtec bought a few years ago, this one could proportionally have been a grand.

I guess it's a memorabilia thing, personally I wouldn't pay £100 for one unless it was autographed by JFK and Elvis.

That was mine. It was a MK4 which I think is rarer than the MK5. Indeed it did sell on eBay, ironically to a chap in Ireland. He sent payment within seconds of the listing ending. The whole thing went without a hitch and he was very happy with it.

What did I think of it? To be honest it performed no better than a standard MK2 Cobra. It had all the extra bells and whistles, but other than that it's overall performance was what you'd expect from a non-butchered 148, nothing more than that. I kind of thought "oh, is that it?" Then it was put away, then listed on eBay for auction.

It sold for £590 (so I got around £525 after fee's). I don't know how you'd judge that price against the MK5's which pop up regularly enough. But the buyer was very happy. In fact he was after my boxed Superstar 148 GTL (yes that's correct) when I mentioned it during communications. he didn't get it though, I like the radio! :D

Couple of snaps I took of the MK4 before it headed off to the Emerald isle.

Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

The inlay on that MV5 didnt look right to me, The lettering on the switches were quite a way off, I am guessing the inlay was an aftermarket one and not an original.
