Hiya Simon,

Thunderpole & Knights already have them at ?59.99 I think. Are you going to give one a go, would be interested to know what you think of it as reading the comments on the above web sites it would appear maybe Maxon have produced a decent radio?

ATB, Jon.

SO LADIES the radio is here, the band plan is FOUND, the MODIFICATION is found too.

SO, FIRST ANYWHERE AT ALL HERE IS THE MOD: (c) The Wizard

Total there are 16 bands:

8 + 8 hidden

Band 09: 26965-27405 (1-40) and 41 to 00 27415-28105
Band 00: 26965-27405 (1-40) and 41 to 00 26955-26315
Band 11: 26965-27405 (1-40) and 41 to 00 27410-28110 ending in ZERO
Band 12: 26965-27405 (1-40) and 41 to 00 26960-26310 ending also in ZERO
Band 13: 26965-27405 (1-40) and 41 to 00 27415-28105
Band 14: SAME MIDS AS ALL and 41 to 00 26315-26955
Band 15: 28115 to 29105 channels 1-00
Band 16: 26305 to 25315 channels 1-00

Take off the top cover, there are TWO solder points OPTION1 and Option2

REMOVE SOLDER FROM OPTION 1 and leave the remaining BLOB on OPTION2

25315-29105 am/fm total bandwidth and 2x 40 channels ending in 0 with 100 channels per band \:D/

If there was a message to be made and learned from this radio :?: There are 3

1) Maxon, send one of these to President and show them how you can make a radio so well, so expandable and with such a good price. Where as the Kenji was CRAP, could hardly make 40 channels let alone 400...........

2) The ASC is a little sharp on borderline cases and even keep these out sometimes

3) The next one, have a channel change knob and not buttons and fit an external s meter socket

KILLER AM AUDIO, if allowed to be used in your country  FM is a little quieter

Thank you for the modifications Simon. That's a great value little radio and a real bargain price from Knights in the UK.
The big question that everyone wants to know is.... does it beep when you change channel and if so can you turn the beep off?! :)

Its a silent as they are, its something like a frankenstein of a radio really as is the same size as the intek and kenji. But the inside is so cleanly made you can eat your dinner of it, maybe not literally. Board is cut nice, build is good and all round something special for the price.

Sadly, there is a full review from me heading to the UK in the next days so cannot say alot here. Sad there is no channel change control, makes use mobile a little awkward otherwise listen to the AM audio, oh man there is such a punch there

Looks very nice and simple. Does it scan the channels? i.e 1-40 for action.

Simon if you remove the solder can you still access the eu/uk bands by the multimode selection?

yes indeed Greg, all that happens is that the bands 09-16 are added at the end of the original 8
