Hi,

What amazes me most about CBs is the amount of design effort spent to "dress up" basic rubbishy circuit boards. All that wiring adds big cost to production. Typically rigs like this have a lot of redundant ex-AM circuitry too. Designing CBs around a set of ICs on single board must have paid off for the likes of Amstrad, even if their rigs weren't the top performers.

With all the grief I get at my workplace with anything beyond basic PCB stuffing, I'm grateful that I never worked in any kind of CB manufacture!

You may not have to touch much of the wiring, the front panel probably drops off just by undoing the screws. Then again is fitting white LEDs in 1980s radios defacing them?

I think I gave the skeletal remains of one of these to Ashtec Paul a couple of years ago... the PSU was intact. I thought he might find some use for it. If I remember, the guy that I got the parts off said it was actually not a bad radio till it just died on him one day.

Hi Folks,

I uploaded a diagram of the mic connections for the Jesan 88-900 with this post. I think maybe the problem is simply the mike has been lost. KCB appear to sell a "Team" replacement mic with the up/down buttons.

It was probably originally sold by "Mold CB" as their sticker is on the back panel. It would be a good rig to use at night as the front panel is backlit.

I had one of those but it had the analog meter instead of those lights. I don't like lights myself lol.
I can't help with your problem sadly though.
Alright you lot?

I had one of these a couple of years back as part of a job lot. (one with analogue meter)

I can't say I was impressed by it, and it got sold pretty quickly.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.
