CRT SS 9900?

Hi there all.
So I’m back on the radio after 34 years and Ive already placed a provision order on a CRT SS 9900.
I have a Midland Alan 42 DS and also want to get on the SSB as I was and wish to continue DX’ing.
I am aware that this radio also covering other frequencies, however its all smoke and mirrors at this stage.
My plan is to complete my Foundation course and I wondered which frequencies this radio will cover and with my foundation licence, will I be able to enable these frequencies.

Sorry its a long set of questions but I need all the help I can get to not spend any additional monies as you always do for any hobby.

This radio will give you 10m / 11m / 12m as long as it's the V4 model.

Your going to be a bit limited with just 3 bands especially at this part of the sunspot cycle. You would be better off looking for a S/H HF transceiver covering 160 to 10 or 6M. There’s lots about.

Yes Bob, a foundation licence will cover 10 and 12 meters. What you do with 11 is up to you!
Get a wide banded HF rig and cover everything. Something like an old Kenwood TS-50S or similar.

As above. A decent HF set can be purchased for about £250 - 300. This is probably the best bet as solar activity is at a low and there's not a lot happening upwards of 14mhz.

12 meters is dead. 10 meters can be fun, 11 meters is also fun.

They are good radios. There are lots of HF radios about that will do other bands, most of the activity is on 20 meters, 40 meters, 80 meters, 160 meters.
