I was surprised at how well it works.
Does that thing throw out a good signal, or does it keep coming back? ;)

Ohhh dear..

Indeed :D
But for £30 from Thunderpole for the Sirio version or £50 for their own, you can't beat it for stealth stuck up on a TV pole 8)

Surprisingly good.
I also have an Antron 99 up and the boomerang receives just as well.
TX signal is down around 1 S point to my mate who is across the other side of town 5 miles away and it will only handle 100 watts comfortably but that gets me into Leicester which is 30 miles away.
When the skip is running, I've had contacts in Europe from it.
My advice would be to get the SWR down low, mine is 1:1.5 and needed to be adjusted, even though the blurb says they are factory tuned.

I know there are so many variables and I suppose the answer to performance will be a 'suck it and see' scenario.
I'm going to hopefully make this antenna myself but my main concern is that it will be fairly close to the next door neighbours tv aerial and I was wondering how good modern day tv's are at rejecting interference from old CB radios. I remember many years ago having lots of hassle with the neighbours and the fact that I wiped their tv's out as soon as I keyed my mic!
I can't really put anything outside except for maybe a wire dipole fixed to a plastic downpipe so the loft seemed like an option.
I've read a lot of posts on here about loft antennas and opinions seem mixed.
Will a 2 element be any good as I'm going to try a bit of dx'ing (11m) or should I stick to a vertical?
Hopefully I'll get some free time to start this project and let you know.
Cheers guys
If you can fit a moxon up there give it a try.

I'll look into that, cheers. I've just set a wire dipole up in a vertical position but every band seems to be really quiet but it is quite late. I'll check again tomorrow and see what comes through.

Ok I wont check tomorrow. Just tried to check SWR and thats its transmitting on frequency and after about the fourth mic key the fuse blew. Has anybody got any idea what is the correct in line fuse for a Tristar 797 please? Just checked the one that has blown and it was only a 1amp.

I'd go with a 4 amp assuming 4w/12w output

Yeh I seem to remember my old cb's in the 80's using 3amp fuses but wasn't too sure.

I'll have a look into that one as I'm not familiar with those. Cheers
