On Tuesday 2nd November 2021 we celebrate 40 years of legal CB radio in the UK

From 19:00 hours a nationwide net will take place on channel 40 UKFM (27.99125Mhz)

So dig out those old radios, echo chambers and burners and let's make this a night to remember!

I'm listening from home, let's see what action there is out there....

A shack (or, less often, shanty) is a type of small, often primitive shelter or dwelling - Wikipedia

Lots of locals on 40 last night so flicked around the channels.
All seemed busy which was nice to see.
Had a few good copies from my location in Coventry (elev. 600 feet) to Bristol, Bradford and Grantham to name a few of the better ones.

WHAT A TOTAL MESS/DISATER !

Post by KILLERPARSNIP »

Having not used CB for a number of years I decided to take a radio up onto Titterstone Clee in Shropshire ( not far from me) . I only had about 3 watts and a Cherokee Half Breed both from the 80's the radio a Fidelity 1000 dated 1982. I only managed one contact The Knife at about 15 miles away. On channel 40 I had two stations playing music one playing the Convoy tune continuously idiots swearing at each other It sounded like CB radio from the late 90's early 2000's when it had finally been trashed by half wits.Channel 19 was the usual mess with multiple groups of people chatting making silly noises, swearing and playing music. I think the CB will end up in the cupboard again or possibly the bin! A real shame a great possibility destroyed ! A very nice location for UHF/VHF though !

It's not the same everywhere.

We had a lot of activity down in the s/e last night, there was a right pile up on ch40 from my high ground location. Plenty of contacts to be had, good to hear the radio busy again. all in all a good evening!

I could hear a couple of people in the back of the box around my way, but my current setup is very 10-1

I wasn't able to head to the hills unfortunately.

Most of the idiots which ruined it have probably moved onto other things, like trolling on Facebook/twitter.

The people I could hear were enthusiasts or those which were good operators back in the day, the sort of people that the hobby needs. The going back on for the net might just encourage them to get on air more in the future.
