40 Years of Legal UK CB - Discussion
I've created this thread to discuss ideas for events to celebrate 40 years of legal UK CB radio.
The 40th anniversary of legal UK CB radio is on 2nd November 2021.
As in previous years, a nationwide net will take place on channel 40 (27.99125) on the evening of 2nd November but as this is a special anniversary I feel that we could have a range of events across the weeks/months leading up to the big day.
There is already a discussion on Facebook about the possibility of a mass convoy of mobile stations around the M25. It has also been suggested that special nets could take place over the summer holidays when people have more time to play radio, the days are longer and the weather is better.
So if you have any ideas please comment on this thread...

Love the idea of a mass convoy/... M25 may be a bit far for me, be there could be local events scheduled for local people....
Maybe a good old eyeball, or maybe even a 40hour straight UK 40 sit-in on ch40? We try and keep people on air on ch40 for 40 hours straight?

If the convoy does come to fruition, it'd be nice to get the press involved (and hopefully shed a better light on the hobby than the last time!).
Ill make sure I fire up mine this year for old time's sake

Mass convoy, seriously? I think there's been enough misery in the country with the pandemic and protests without clogging up the motorways as a celebration of a yesteryear hobby that had it's time (Greta will have a meltdown about if she finds out as well) Mark the occasion and have some fun yes but don't screw up the road network in the name of.

You think there’s enough of us left to clog up a motorway?!?!
Everyone’s working from home now anyway, loads of space on the m25!
But seriously, I hardly think it would be an issue. With that said, please feel free to offer other productive and positive suggestions.

Its radio so mark the occasion in the spirit of, the theme being 40.
Local radio nets starting on ch1 on the 2nd of November and moving every 40mins to the next channel ending on ch40 the next day. UK40FM only so no mid band or ssb use. 40 years, 40 channels, 40 mins - and all on 4 watts only, no burners or high powered rigs on full power. CB radios only would be preferred as that's what its about so a good time to blow the dust off an old rig or two made back in the day for those that have them, on a vintage car fest you don't turn up driving a modern car if participating but what radio used on the day not important really.
Stick uploads on social media to generate interest before the day. On the day have live streams of on same etc.
Oh yes, and be mindful of all that EMF as well

4 watts only? Wave goodbye to 90% of people's contacts then
You'll be saying we can only use what were legal antennas back then too next. Say bye bye to all the contacts lol.
And even if all the people that currently still use CB's got in a convoy on the M25 as mentioned/proposed, it'd only be about 10 cars long
I'll just stick mine on that night and and see if I can just hear someone worth keying up for.

Maybe a challenge for each individual to work 40 different stations over the entire day.
Now being honest due to the amount of active stations Im not really sure this is a feasable target.
I assume it will have to be FM as its 40 years of FM that we are celebrating.
Just an idea what do you guys think?

40 at 40, I like it. Though it sounds a bit like a contest haha.
With increased activity on the date or in the weeks leading up to it, 40 could be feasible
