Better than feeding the Mike a fraction of its operating voltage anyway. As for the lead I'd just make one. Your rig should have a rca jack on the back for ptt. That's what I use on my 920 to key it. I wouldn't be banking on a mixer for a Tenner being much good. I've the 802 here. Think I gave 40 euros for it used. Has parametric eq on each channel etc.

I wouldnt buy that one mate. If you look at the EQ on it it only has low and high. Mid is the one youre really interested in with radio as you want to boost the mids to around 2k to make your audio 'articulate' I reccoment the Behringer Xeynx 802. Has more channels than you need but you can always run other stuff through it....that mixer is crap....buy cheap buy twice as my old man always says

Thats the one I just bought, well the Q802USB.
Has a compression knob too which seems to do 'something' - add distortion and noise would be my description.

Well its all assembled - with the mixer levels all set at 0dB (except the mic pre-amp at -10dB) , fed into the radios data port at line level and it works very well along with the homemade key switch.
Time will tell if I like using it and if there is anything to gain from it, but its fun putting it together and cost almost nothing thanks to some 'free' amazon vouchers I got in a promotion.
Might explore the USB effects port and software sometime, might be interesting to 'contest contest 5 and 9' as a dalek.

If you can pass the audio thru the computer there are some great "effects" I saw on YouTube...one is like an old graphic equalizer...with some fantastic audio settings....maybe of interest to you..

it comes with downloadable software and plug-ins, you can have all sorts of echo, reverb, processing, special effects.
There might be an overdriven zetagi simulator I can use.
Or maybe a frequency inverter so lsb sounds like usb, that will confuse them.

Mine arrived today and I am happy to say that it is indeed phantom powered. Few more bits to gather yet, and I will be ready to rock

Just bear in mind the battery version is not a true condenser mike as such. They have an electeret capsule in them. Its not that big a deal to provide phantom power....
