i have thousands of eyeball cards and QSL cards from the 80's which i have collected.
who remembers the curry cards and the plastic collection cards..

i have a few as well from all over.

I ran the Scottish Highlanders 80/90`s then passed it all on to someone else
Must get them out the Garage and see what i have every so often i have a look thru them for the memories.

Currie qsls and the plastics were all the rage. I never had that issue much as i was a printer back then and printed all my own

when I was about 15 I started the Bravo Bravo Intl QSL & DX club.

ended up with over 500 members

club rubber stamps & QSL cards sold well, but it was a silly hobby that paid for it'self rather than a big money maker.......

reading back some of the hundreds of CB mags i have and you notice in say one area, Nottingham, around 50,000 CB users led to a lot of CB clubs, most people were members of more than one, but it seemed every village/town had one,
so Nottingham had well over 100 CB clubs or groups, from the local pub down the road, working mans club up the road to the railway club, this pub and that pub, everyone had a club at a pub or club, maybe it was a money maker for the landlords and stewards, as well as a great meeting place.

but now...any real clubs are gones, it's just website clubs and virtual groups,
with little or no actually physical meetings.

Some people think out banding is fairly new,
Back in the mid to late 70s a group of us in the Midlands were
having crystals fitted to FT101s to get on to 11m… No snipping
Wires or removing diodes :o
You could also become members of this club :D

They came with 10m, 28-30Mhz in 4 blocks of 500khz
Most would take out the first 2 crystals and drop the radio
Down 1Mhz, never seen one with 11m as standard!
I wish I still had mine.
