Both frequencies are Simple UK Light, which means a company can for a single cost of £75 per 5 years, use as many radios as he likes anywhere in the UK with a maximum power of 5watts, very popular with companies that do not operate at a fixed location. From memory there are 8 UHF Simple UK Light frequencies and they can use both analogue and digital..

Also a lot of construction sites etc use pmr446 so scanning the business frequencies and pmr446 is advisable.

Crane operators and their banksman tend to use dedicated radios separate from the rest of the construction site. They steer clear of PMR446 kit as kids soon twig on they can give false instructions to the crane operator

Many moons ago they were building a new theatre in St Andrews, and the banksman to Crane were using the same frequency as local lifeguards. It made for some very interesting conversations.

Site is now using 449.475 in digi mode not posting TG due to some 'interference' on the other frequency
