The simple answer is people don't like giving out all the info anymore like colour codes, talkgroups etc as with that info it could be put in a DMR radio and someone instead of just listening could mess with the user and then make them go encrypted. Digital scanners like the Whistler TRX1 & 2 do all the hard work and you are just able to listen without needing any other info other than the freq.
