Station on 14CH in Japan

The Reality of CB Stations in Japan's 14 Channels
There is a mix of some maniacs and stations that are nostalgic for the old days.
The output power is too low to fly very far, and some of them operate with external antennas, ignoring Japanese radio laws and regulations.

When an external antenna is connected, there are a few stations that enjoy communications in excess of 400 to 1000 km in spite of 10 mW output power when communicating through the sporadic E layer that occurs from spring to fall.
In short, they are competing with each other to see how far they can fly with weak radio waves (QRPper).
How about your area?

Generally muppets on the UK calling channel (CH19 27.781.25 mhz) running as much power as possible to chat so someone less than half a mile away who in return are doing exactly the same thing.

In Poland we have 40ch 4W AM/FM and 12W SSB
Band is not monitored, so you can run as much power as you want, no one cares.

I am envious that you can use so much power on 800m.
I don't think anyone would break the radio laws, but it is indeed a gentleman's country.

It's free. Japan is constantly monitored, and some stations with strong radio waves are tracked and arrested.

In the UK in the late 70's and early 80's, the government did track down and fine or arrest the occasional radio user for using illegal radios or amplifiers, but it was very rare. Today, no one seems to care.

We have heard Japanese stations before on the freeband frequencies (Alfa Tango group) here in the United Kingdom.

The bands are not monitored and we can use full power here in Europe.
