No no it must be a rusty Fidelity 1000 with the mic plug held together with tape. Pure class.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

This money is madness. You'd in Very good second0hand HAM radio money there. You'd do well to get a Kenwood 480 or 570 for that money, both of which will wipe the floor with this radio IMHO.

I reckon my original George would wipe the floor with one of these.

quite likely matie. Just seems they really are going hard on the nostalgia. Maybe we need to call it the nostalgia mark-up.

Hopefully the price will fall as initial sales drop off and the "opened never used" but sold for spares/repairs George 2's start appearing on ebay.

Is anyone thinking back to when the Grant 2 and Lincoln 2 first landed? An absolute horror show.

It's looking as if the same scenario is unfolding again...

Totally craig, They're hoping the name will sell it, But i think people are starting to realise that quality wise they're not a patch on original president radios

A lot of these 'new old' radios use the same, if not very similar boards anyways, all from the same factory etc. Sure they may have iterative updates applied to them, but nothing majorly different under-the-hood.

With radios like the Yaesu FT991 and the Icon 7300 being so dominant and relatively low-price (RELATIVELY) in the HAM market, the second hand HAM market prices are really being squeezed as many people opt for the newer 'waterfall' type radios. So getting an excellent and superb quality second hand HF radio is now more-affordable than ever. Hell I've seen 7300s going for around £600 too so looking at paying £400 for what is essentially a 11M radio (yeah sure they can often do 10, 11 and 12m bands) is madness.

Shop smart people. Don't be blinded by the advertising hype

The reviews I've read are mixed. Quite a few say the receive is very good. Others say average. Build quality is OK. But the issue with the display illumination failing seems to be the key concern. Buying a brand new radio then quickly having to return it due to (what appears to be) a common issue harks back to the first batch of the Lincoln 2. So are we going to get a V2 George 2? A V3. Maybe even a George 2 plus.

They've had a considerable amount of time to get this radio right. Yet it's still suffering with issues.

It's just another part of the build cheap sell expensive culture.
